Shanghai Disneyland Attractions Guide: Every Land and Ride Explained

In this post I’ve put together a complete rundown of every attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. I visited during the Christmas season, when there were some winter-only events, so anything that runs only during the Christmas/winter season is marked with 🎅. (If you’re visiting in another season, treat those as reference only.)

I’ve sorted the attractions into six types and given each one my own star rating ⭐️ as a self-proclaimed ride fanatic:

• 🌠 Thrill ride – rides with some thrills
• 🐌 Slow ride – gentle, slow-moving rides
• 🎭 Show – sit-down shows you watch
• 🎭 Small show – short performances or interactive moments
• 🤩 Character experience – places to meet Disney characters
• 🌲 Park – areas to walk around and explore

Let’s go through the park land by land!

🐘 Zootopia

This is the only Zootopia-themed land in the world, and it’s in Shanghai. It’s designed around the day of Gazelle’s concert, and the details are adorable – chairs and drinking fountains sized for different animals, for example. If you’re a Zootopia fan, this is an absolute must.

You even have to queue just to enter the land, so either aim for right after opening when the wait is relatively short, or go in around 4 p.m. so you can enjoy both the daytime and nighttime atmosphere.

A trackless dark ride where you become a rookie officer chasing the villain Bellwether, who has broken out of prison.

• Disney Zootopia Comes Alive / 🎭 Small show / ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A street show inside Zootopia where animal characters appear in the building windows. There’s no fixed schedule – it runs throughout the day.

• Meet Judy & Nick at Zootopia Police Department Recruitment / 🤩 Character experience

A Judy & Nick character greeting. It’s so popular that the wait is often 180 minutes or more, so if you want to meet them, I recommend lining up right at opening.

🪙 Treasure Cove

A pirate-themed land that brings the world of Pirates of the Caribbean to life on the grandest scale.

• 💝 Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shanghai Disneyland’s signature boat ride, based on Pirates of the Caribbean. The staging is completely different from the versions at other Disney parks, so I highly recommend it.

• Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️

A stunt show featuring Jack Sparrow. It’s performed in Chinese, so the first part is a bit slow, but the stunts near the end are worth seeing.

• Explorer Canoes / 🐌 Slow ride / 💧

A canoe ride around the pirate land where you paddle yourself. (It’s closed in winter, so I didn’t get to try it.)

An outdoor pirate-themed live show.

A roaming show where pirate characters wander the land and improvise with guests.

• Shipwreck Shore / 🌲 Park / 💧

A water play area where kids can splash around freely.

• Siren’s Revenge / 🌲 Park

A small play area themed with pirate set pieces and structures.

• Swabbie Fight / 🌲 Park

A pirate-training activity area for kids.

🪐 Tomorrowland

A sci-fi land that mixes the future, outer space and Marvel heroes.

• 💝 TRON Lightcycle Power Run – Presented by Chevrolet / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shanghai Disneyland’s signature roller coaster, where you ride in a motorcycle-style position. The track is the same as TRON at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, Orlando. The lighting effects are especially cool at night, so try to ride it after dark too.

• TRON Realm, Chevrolet Digital Challenge / 🤩 Character experience

A digital interactive experience set in the TRON world.

• Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A ride where you shoot laser blasters to score points. It’s more fun if you compete with your group.

An indoor area where you enjoy scenes from Pixar films set to music.

• Jet Packs / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A spinning ride where you sit on a rocket and go round and round. It picks up more speed than Dumbo, so you really feel the centrifugal force.

A hands-on program with Marvel heroes.

• Meet Pixar Characters at Tomorrowland / 🤩 Character experience

A greeting where you can meet Pixar characters.

A roaming show where Avengers heroes walk around the park and do short performances. You might just bump into them as you walk by.

A rhythm performance that uses cleaning tools as instruments.

A magical talking trash-bin character that responds when you speak to it. You may spot it as you walk around.

🤠 Toy Story Land

A land themed to Pixar’s Toy Story.

A thrill ride that swings up and down a U-shaped track, a bit like a pirate-ship ride.

• Woody’s Roundup / 🐌 Slow ride

A ride where you sit in Woody’s wagons and spin round and round. It turns on two axes, which makes it fun.

A greeting with Toy Story characters such as Woody and Buzz.

• Toy Soldiers Bucket O’ Fun / 🎭 Small show

A short show by the green army men from Toy Story.

The main street that serves as Shanghai Disneyland’s entrance, packed with shops, character greetings and parades.

The park’s main parade, which runs from Toy Story Land to Treasure Cove. In Shanghai you get to see a Mulan float, so it’s worth watching at least once.

A classic Peter Pan ride with impressive effects that make you feel like you’re flying.

A Winnie the Pooh-themed spinning cup ride that turns on two axes – each pot spins while the whole platform rotates.

A boat ride that takes you beneath the castle to see a giant crystal. It’s a slow, gentle ride, so some might find it a little dull, but passing under the castle is a unique experience I’d recommend.

A flying theater that feels like you’re flying over landmarks around the world. It uses the same film as Tokyo Disneyland and EPCOT at Walt Disney World, so if you’ve already ridden it and the wait is long, feel free to skip it.

• 💝 Roaring Rapids / 🌠 Thrill ride

A jungle river rafting-style ride. You get very wet, so it’s closed during the winter season.

A hands-on adventure course where you cross ropes and bridges.
