Animal Kingdom Tips: Flight of Passage Timing, Multi Pass, Photo Spots
- Ride Avatar Flight of Passage around 4 p.m., when the wait often drops as Park Hoppers leave
- With few attractions and short walks, you can skip Lightning Lane Multi Pass in the off-season
- The Mickey & Minnie meet has an indoor queue – go when the wait is around 15–25 minutes

Today I’ve gathered the tips I learned firsthand at Animal Kingdom. If it’s your first visit, I hope they help you have a more efficient and fun day!
#1 Avatar Flight of Passage – try it near park closing
Avatar Flight of Passage is one of Animal Kingdom’s signature attractions, and its wait is longest right after opening and during the day. Lots of people rope-drop it, so the morning wait tends to get long.
Animal Kingdom often opens and closes earlier than the other parks, and it’s common for Park Hopper guests to leave in the afternoon. Because of that, the wait time sometimes drops a lot around 4 p.m., so I recommend the strategy of riding it late in the day, toward the end of your visit.
#2 Lightning Lane Multi Pass: I don’t recommend it here
From my own experience, Animal Kingdom is not a park where you really need Lightning Lane Multi Pass (the paid priority-entry option). Compared with the other parks it has relatively few attractions, and the walking distances are short, so you can enjoy it fully using the regular standby lines.
There are a few shows you can book with Multi Pass, but having priority entry doesn’t guarantee better seats, and it doesn’t let you in earlier than regular entry. I found that a bit disappointing.
So if you’re visiting in the off-season (September–October, or on a weekday), I don’t think you need to buy Multi Pass.
#3 Where to get photos with Mickey and Minnie together
At Animal Kingdom, the Mickey & Minnie character greeting also has a relatively short wait. Another plus is that the queue is indoors, so waiting is more comfortable. I especially recommend it because you can meet Mickey and Minnie together in one go. Wait times change in real time, so aim to go when it’s around 15–25 minutes.
#4 An explorer-themed outfit of the day
Animal Kingdom has a strong jungle, explorer and animal theme. I walked around in an explorer-style outfit, got compliments from Cast Members and characters, and it looked great in photos :) Matching your outfit to the theme, even casually, makes for more immersive photos and memories, so give a themed outfit a try.
#5 PhotoPass
I bought PhotoPass, and I’ve marked Animal Kingdom’s best photo spots on the park map in #6 too. If you didn’t buy PhotoPass, you can also hand your own phone to a photographer and they’ll often take the photo for you. However, shots that need their special cameras (like zoom shots and distortion shots) can only be viewed with a watermark in the app.
#6 My Animal Kingdom park map
This is a park map I made myself, marked with:
- 🚩 Attractions
- 📷 PhotoPass spots
- 🎀 Mickey character meet
so everything is easy to see at a glance.
