📍 Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park — Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830, USA
In this post I’m introducing one of Walt Disney World’s hidden gems: the Typhoon Lagoon water park 💙
Many visitors to Walt Disney World only do the theme parks, but Walt Disney World actually has two water parks:
- Typhoon Lagoon: famous for its huge wave pool
- Blizzard Beach: a snow-themed water park
During peak season both are open, but in the off-season only one operates. When I visited in October, only Typhoon Lagoon was open.

🔗 Typhoon Lagoon review: free water park entry on check-in day
Admission is around $65–75 for adults. But here’s a tip! As a 2025 Disney promotion, you get free water park admission on your hotel check-in day ✨ Check-in is around 3–4 p.m., so if your itinerary has you arriving in Orlando in the morning, I highly recommend dropping off your luggage and heading straight to the water park!

🌊 Typhoon Lagoon’s Biggest Draw: The Wave Pool
Typhoon Lagoon’s signature attraction is its enormous wave pool (Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool). Huge waves roll through the middle of the park at regular intervals, so if you love riding waves, you’ll have a blast. The waves get bigger the further in you go, but anyone wearing a life jacket can’t go past the red line. So young kids can enjoy the gentler waves near the edge.
💦 Water Slide Types and Details
Typhoon Lagoon’s slides fall into two main types.
- Body slides: you slide down on your own body
✔ Since your whole body takes the water and friction, swimsuits riding up happens a lot 😂 ✔ They’re fast, but can be a bit uncomfortable.
- Tube rides: you ride down in a tube or raft
✔ They’re comfortable, but on many of them you have to carry the tube up yourself, which takes some energy! ✔ They’re stable and fun, though, so they’re popular with families.
Below, I’ll go through Typhoon Lagoon’s slides one by one!
🎽 Bay Slides — Body slide (kids) Short, gentle slides just for kids. They’re near the wave pool, so children can enjoy them safely.
🌴 Castaway Creek — Tube ride, single A lazy river that loops around the entire water park! Just lie back in a tube and drift slowly all the way around. A relaxing, healing course.
🧜♀️ Ketchakiddee Creek — Kids’ water play area An area designed for little kids, with fountains, mini slides, water-dumping features, and more.
🌊 Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool — Wave pool The wave pool in the middle of Typhoon Lagoon. Periodically, big waves roll in with the sound of a ship’s horn, and at other times it makes gentler rolling waves.
🍍 Crush ‘n’ Gusher — Tube ride, 2 riders One of the most popular slides at Typhoon Lagoon! It’s a water coaster, so you go up and down repeatedly and enjoy a real sense of speed.
🌀 Gangplank Falls — Tube ride, multi-rider A four-person raft slide that families can ride together. It has lots of spins and curves, so it’s relatively thrilling.
🥽 Keelhaul Falls — Tube ride, single A medium-difficulty slide you ride in a single tube. The ups and downs are moderate, so it’s easy to enjoy.
⚡ Humunga Kowabunga — Body slide (high thrill) The most thrilling slide at Typhoon Lagoon! You drop almost straight down at exhilarating speed.
☀️ Mayday Falls — Tube ride, single The bumpiest single-rider tube slide, with the most ledges. It’s less about speed and more about enjoying a rough course!
🎒 Miss Adventure Falls — Tube ride, multi-rider You ride in a large family raft, and since it goes up on a conveyor belt, you don’t have to carry the raft. It’s the most comfortable and fun family slide at Typhoon Lagoon.
💦 Storm Slides — Body slide A classic water slide with three different routes down. It’s nice and fast, and the water pours over you refreshingly.
